artist statement.
My art is a visual exploration of personal and generational memory—particularly the ways the body holds and reshapes experience over time. I am drawn to concepts like neuroplasticity, epigenetics, and human ecology which speak to the layered, evolving nature of human identity. Often working in contemporary collage and drawing from the genre of femme surrealism, I take apart and reassemble found imagery, creating new compositions that honor past forms while transforming them into something reimagined, beautiful and newly alive. This sometimes involves integrating figures into alternate realities or borrowing from the practice of fiber arts to create paper quilts or weavings. My process begins with my hands—gathering elements such as a magazine page, a scrap of fiber, or perhaps a wildflower that evoke a feeling or memory, even if their place in the work isn’t yet clear. From there, I respond intuitively, slowly layering, editing, and juxtaposing materials in a way that becomes both inquiry and expression. My work often lingers in the emotional space where intertwined ideas or experiences inform and shape each other. Ultimately, my work is an invitation to consider how we might participate in the shaping of our own stories—and how those choices can echo across generations.
